WELCOME TO THE SAMA82 SOUTHEAST WEBSITE
The South Atlantic Medal (1982) is the official name of the medal awarded to almost 30,000 service men, women and civilians who took part in the campaign to liberate the Falkland Islands in 1982.
The South Atlantic Medal Association (1982) or (SAMA82) is an association dedicated to all those veterans of the war as well as the next-of-kin and families of those that did not return. The association was founded on the 15th Anniversary to provide a focal point for all those who shared a common experience and to highlight the need for help for all war veterans. SAMA82 is now a Charity.
Over the years the association membership has grown and we now have regional co-ordinators all over the world. If you would like to know where your nearest Branch or co-ordinator is please visit www.sama82.org.uk .
SAMA(82) Southeast is one of the regions of SAMA(82) and covers Sussex, Surrey, Kent and London. This website is mainly for all those that live in the Southeast area but any veteran will be welcome as well as the families of those still on patrol.
Our aim then, is to encourage veterans to get involved by attending the various events that go on throughout the year or by offering encouragement, support, help or advice if they themselves want to run an event. We are also here to offer support and advice to any veteran that needs it, by helping them to get to the right people or organisation that can help. One other way we can do this is by encouraging the veterans to talk to each other by fostering closer ties amongst them and creating a support network of those who have shared the same experiences.
